Initial Steps
No matter how large or small, traditional or offbeat, I'd love to talk with you about a custom ceremony to honor, memorialize or celebrate any occasion or event. I offer free initial phone, video call or in-person consultations to discuss your plans, after which I will prepare a quote detailing the costs involved in officiating your ceremony. Crafting the Ceremony Ceremonies begin to take shape through discussion and lots of questions. You might already have a clear vision for your ceremony or, if desired, I can suggest elements you may wish to include such as rituals, readings, blessings, ways to incorporate your religious or cultural backgrounds and honor your family and friends. Officiating the Ceremony In addition to a beautiful, meaningful and personal ceremony, I offer my presence and experience as a minister and officiant. I will help create the container in which your ceremony will unfold with the utmost care, thoughtfulness and attention to your needs. |
"Hannah was a calming presence before, during and moments after the event. We felt fully supported, guided and prepared for each aspect of our ceremony." |
FAQs
How long does it take to create a custom ceremony?
Ceremonies have a way of coming together, utilizing as much or as little time as you have. Ideally, we would have several months to craft a large ceremony like a wedding, although I've done simple ceremonies with only a few weeks preparation. Even if it's short notice, I encourage you to contact me with your inquiry.
How much does it cost?
Each ceremony is unique and therefore your investment can vary greatly. My prices are based the day, time, location, season, size and complexity of your ceremony. After discussing your event in our initial consultation, I will be able to provide you with a quote.
Whenever possible, I offer my services to individuals and families regardless of their ability to pay. My sliding scale can be discussed during our initial consultation.
Are you available for wedding rehearsals?
Depending on my availability, rehearsals can be arranged for a $150 fee (additional travel costs may apply). Whether or not you decide to have me at the rehearsal, I will provide you with a cue sheet so you and any other participants or vendors will be familiar with the ceremony outline.
Do we need a marriage license?
If you plan to be legally married, yes. You can find a simple guide to getting your Massachusetts marriage license here.
Do you travel?
Yes! Based in Northampton, I perform ceremonies throughout Western Massachusetts, the Berkshires, New England and beyond. My packages include 50 miles of travel; additional mileage is calculated at $0.75/mile. I also travel for destination weddings and events.
Do you have a PA system?
If desired, I gladly offer amplification for outdoor and large ceremonies at no cost. My PA system includes a battery-operated speaker, a lapel microphone for myself and a wireless handheld microphone for use by you or your ceremony participants.
What do you wear to officiate?
The photos throughout my website feature my typical ceremony attire. I coordinate my outfit with the color and style of your event, accommodating special requests whenever possible.
Do we have to do premarital counseling with you?
I do not require couples to do my Premarital Conversations package before I officiate your wedding. Many choose to, however, and couples who are not having me conduct their ceremony can also participate in my marital preparation program.
Do you ever write the ceremony script for someone else to officiate?
I offer ceremony scripting, consulting and coaching for weddings, mother and baby blessings, memorials and more. How we work together depends on how I can best support your needs. Learn more about wedding ceremony consulting, or contact me for more information about other ceremonies.
