Part of every wedding ceremony is my Address to the Couple. Usually just before the wedding vows, the address is based on what the couple has shared is important to them about marriage. The address inspires the couple to meet the challenges and joys of married life and focuses everyone's attention on the great but worthy effort of creating happy and healthy marriage.
I know you understand that marriage isn’t just finding your true love – although you’re blessed to have done that, too. Marriage is the willingness to be a work in progress, to wake up every morning and say yes to each other through good times and bad. It is supporting and encouraging and challenging one another, creating space to nurture both your relationship and your individuality.
A marriage is also more than that. It’s respecting and learning from each other, loving and cherishing each other… It’s laughing and having fun together, maintaining a sense of humor and joy in the midst of everyday life… It’s embarking upon your marriage and the family you’ll create together as if it’s the greatest adventure of all, for indeed it is.
