Aanjes & Hollis's Wedding Ceremony
Excerpt from Welcome
Welcome everyone! We are here today, cherished family and friends, because love has gathered us. Love is a miraculous gift and we are overjoyed that it has been bestowed upon Aanjes and Hollis. We have come – from near and far – to witness the intertwining of two lives, two wonderfully unique individuals, who have chosen one another as companions on the adventure that is life.
Excerpt from Honoring of Guests
Thomas Merton said, “Love is our true destiny. We do not find the meaning of life by ourselves alone…we find it with another.” Aanjes and Hollis stand before us, a testament to this truth. Today two people, two lovers, two best friends are here to fulfill their destiny. It’s important to remember, though, that Aanjes and Hollis did not arrive at this day on their own. They arrived here with the love and support of all of you. As you look around at one another, I hope you appreciate what a meaningful gift you have given them.
Excerpt from Minister's Address to the Couple
Your marriage will be a many-textured thing, with moods and seasons of its own. You will say mean words and hurt one another and, for love, forgive one another and go on. Remember, above all, love is what matters. It is the love you feel for one another that will carry you through. You’ve shared that love with me, and the reasons why you’ve chosen to marry one other this day. Knowing what challenges lay ahead, I remind you that you have chosen each other wisely and well.
Excerpt from Closing Ritual
The traditional Jewish breaking of the glass is a joyous ritual. It reminds us that marriage is a transformative and irrevocable experience, one that leaves the couple changed forever. Aanjes and Hollis, this glass is broken with our prayer: May the source of life sustain you in life, and may the bond of your love bring you happiness and peace evermore.
